Inversion Point

A Descent Into Distortion

A U-INVERSE OF PERCEPTION

The Perceptual Collapse of Identity Expression

Inversion Point is an upcoming book about the intersection between physics and psychology, examining the places where external structure becomes internal phenomena.

Through our perceptions, the limitlessness of energy possibility inverts into a specific lived experience, where the physical resistance of matter transforms seamless field dynamics into the constraints of form.

Over time, the challenges of physical survival culminated into a point of perceptual collapse, when the convincing realness of limitation began to fully mask underlying possibility.

A fossilization of perspective spurred an increase in cultural and institutional rigidity, as well as the suppression of our connection to the rhythms of nature, creating a feedback loop of limitation and conflict.

What was once a platform for limitless expression became one of increasing compression, resulting in an evolutionary phase lock that mimicked progress while stalling it, transforming beliefs into distorted truths, and distortions into physical certainties.

Without inversion differentiation remains unexperienced. The material world could accumulate, but there would be no contrast, just one big something with no boundaries, and no one to look at it. Inversion allows a system to turn and see itself, to encounter an aspect from a new perspective, being the origin of the separateness that allows for the experience of material form. The first level of inversion into differentiation split a unified cosmos into multiple perspectives along a single trajectory. Linear movement was inverted once again, spreading out into the broad expanse of a flat plane, introducing orientation and the beginnings of shape. The third level of inversion created another extrusion, introducing depth, and with it mass, volume, and a leap from concept to corporeality. When we go above or below the third dimension, form dissolves into formlessness, giving us clues into the uniqueness of a third-dimensional experience of material delineation. In order to maintain continuity of form, potential movement is inverted into a state of containment within the atom, producing the seemingly predictable and fixed state of materiality. With each successive energetic lock into the third dimension, physicality becomes increasingly dense, and what had been a direct connection to boundless movement transforms into a vague recollection of something lost.

Tensions Between Light and Matter

The Emergence of Physicality

As we navigate the material world, we are not simply observing our environment. We are feeling things into form. Our senses convert the mostly invisible energy that surrounds us into a cohesive experience of physicality. While the processing of sensations is largely subconscious, our conscious mind weaves together sensations into a unified emotional interpretation of what we are experiencing. Every emotion is influenced by the previous one, with the sensory output of one event being the sensory input for the next one. The intensity of our focus concentrates our perceptions, being physically constructive in the same way a magnifying glass concentrates light into a new experience of the same light source. All being—including the very existence of the material world—is simply feeling.

Our participatory universe

Each present moment that we experience is part of a continual cycle of expansion and contraction of focus, perspective, and possibility. Our emotions create a biological broadcast that is signaled through our nervous system, which then gives our cells data about the world around us. Emotional interpretations affect not only how our cells function, but also how our genes are expressed. We could think of our DNA as an antenna that is tuning into surrounding energy data, where moment by moment, we are regulating what our antenna is focused on as we process our emotions. In this way, our body is rendering the world around us from the inside out. Our personal reality is constructed in the same way photo stills are combined to create the experience of a movie. Each beat of our heart is the closing of the camera’s shutter, continually taking photos as we navigate through life. If our focus is in line with our heart’s desire, then the film is intelligible and enlivening. If not, our reality becomes a murky blur of contradicting intentions.

Exiting Phase lock

Transforming Distortion Into Reflection

Humanity’s lock into inversion became abruptly disrupted with the discovery of quantum mechanics, as the longstanding focus on material dominance became increasingly scrutinized. Legendary martial artist Bruce Lee realized the power of focus in enacting profound physical change: “What defines real strength is the ability to remain conscious under pressure. Force is easy. Awareness is rare.” Ultimately, movement beyond the inversion point becomes increasingly reachable as we re-remember how to connect without applying force.
